Personal Profile
James is a Research Coordinator in the ATU Research Office. His role is to facilitate greater Research activity across the University by stimulating networking between academics across the 9 campuses of ATU, between disciplines, with other Universities and with Industry.
James is the co-founder and an editor of both the ATU Research Showcase Series and the ATU Policy Brief Series.
The ATU Research Showcase brings together a selection of researchers across the campuses of ATU working towards a similar goal, aligned with national or international initiatives such as Research Irelands Science Week.
The ATU Policy Brief Series makes easily digestable 1-page summaries of recent ATU publications, aiming to give actionable advice to industry, policymakers and community stakeholders.

James has a PhD in Microbial Biotechnology from University College Dublin where he was supervised by Prof. Kevin O'Connor & Dr. Tanja Narancic within the Research Ireland funded BiOrbic Bioeconomy Research Centre.
His expertise includes microbial bioprocess development & bioprocess scale up, with a focus on optimising protein expression and protein engineering.
Prior to completing his PhD, James was a core member of the Bioprocess Research & Development team in Bioplastech ltd, fostering the development of novel bioprocesses.
