Tim Hannigan

I teach the first-year Critical Voice (introduction to literary criticism) and second- and third-year Modernism and Postmodernism survey modules on the BA in Writing and Literature at ATU Sligo. I also coordinate the third-year Writing and Literature Portfolio (dissertation equivalent) and contribute to the MA in Creative Practice.

My own outputs include both creative work (mainly nonfiction, specifically travel writing and narrative history) and scholarly research on contemporary travel and nature writing. Before completing my PhD at the University of Leicester (a critical-creative investigation of ethical issues in contemporary travel literature), I was a fulltime writer for over a decade, with extensive experience in travel journalism and guidebook-writing. I previously taught at TÚS/AIT and on the online MA in Creative Writing at the University of Hull, and I was research assistant on the Credne: Forging Creativity project at DCU.
