Personal Profile
Dr Ubaid Illahi is passionate about advancing equitable and sustainable transportation systems through research and education. His research interests are broadly inclined towards understanding the interplay between transportation and societal dynamicsis. Dr Ubaid holds a PhD and MTech in Transportation Engineering and Planning and BTech in Civil Engineering.
Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at ATU Sligo, Ireland. Before this role, he gained valuable research experience as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. There, he worked under the supervision of Prof Brian Caulfield on the project 'TRACT – TRAnsport Behaviour Change Trials,' which explored the potential of emission reduction through Electric Vehicles and Shared Mobility Hubs.
Prior to his time in Ireland, he served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, India. Under the guidance of Prof Ashish Verma, he contributed to the project 'Institutionalizing Gender Smart and Gender Astute Mobility,' focusing on addressing gender-related mobility challenges and promoting inclusive transportation.
Teaching is a source of great joy for Dr Ubaid, as he values the opportunity to share knowledge and support students in their learning journeys. He strives to create a thoughtful and engaging environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
