Personal Profile

Yazan Odeh, M.Sc. is an emerging professional in bioengineering, additive manufacture, and materials characterization with a keen interest in interdisciplinary research and innovation. His research ranges from advanced manufacturing to biomaterials specifically, the design of 3D printed biodegradable implants intended to be used in medical applications such as dental bone grafts. Throughout his career, he has also collaborated extensively with his academic and industry partners to design, optimize, and implement leading edge processes and technologies.

Yazan is a current Ph.D. student in Atlantic Technological University (ATU) under the supervision of Dr. Marion McAfee, co-supervision of Dr. Douglas Marques. The focus of his work is the 3D printing of drug delivery devices customized to the individual patient needs, their lifestyle, and the environment surrounding them. This research utilizes advanced technologies, such as Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) for the preparation of drug loaded polymeric filaments to be used in Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing for on demand (lead times from minutes to days) fabrication of patient specific, drug delivery systems at the point of care. As part of the SFI Frontiers for the Future project PROCEED 3D: Yazan contributes to developing next generation approaches, that are efficient, scalable, and personalized for medicated manufacturing solutions.
