Abstract
Retracing the steps of the famous author in his early career as a court clerk. In the 1870s, Bram Stoker travelled to a number of counties in Ireland in the capacity of inspector of Petty sessions (courts inspector). His recently transcribed journals attest to him visiting south Sligo and staying in Ballymote. This article retraces Stoker's steps, reveals the hotel's exact location and is a snapshot of Ballymote in 1877 as seen through the 'Dracula' author's eyes.
