Abstract

A conventional microstrip patch antenna with an embedded H-slot is realized. The conventional Microstrip patch antenna (without the H slot) resonates at 58.95 GHz with a return loss -34.6 dB and a bandwidth 7.2 GHz. When H spaced slot is designed in the center of the patch, the antenna retains the first resonance with an additional resonance at 70.425 GHz. The second resonant frequency has a return loss -16.9 dB and a bandwidth 2.8 GHz. The H-shaped slot antenna has radiation efficiency 82% compare to the radiation efficiency of 85.5% for conventional patch antenna.
