Abstract

A new high-temperature iminisation reaction for the direct derivatisation of crystalline poly(aryl ether ketones) has been successfully developed, resulting in their conversion to amorphous polymers and so improving their solubility for long-fibre impregnation. Hydrolysis of the imine groups regenerates crystalline polyketones.
