Abstract

It is not surprising that businesses are moving toward data storage on the cloud. Legal issues surrounding data storage on the cloud are becoming more complex. Changes to National and European Laws have wide ranging impact on the storage of data in the cloud. Legal issues need to be addressed carefully in order to review the ramifications of governance of data storage within the cloud. This paper outlines a review of some of the most relevant Irish and European laws governing Cloud Data Storage. Further a summary of the licensing issues in the support of resources on the cloud is also outlined. Finally recommendations are made with regard to best practice for IT managers with regard to governance and legal issues are provided.
