Abstract
White Irish Travellers are an Irish ethnic group, making up almost 1% of the Irish population. Travellers have their own unique culture which was based on travelling round the country. As a society Ireland needs to work in partnership with Travellers to address the issues that face the Traveller community, such as discrimination in education, housing and health. There is a need for public services to respect the cultural and ethnic identity of Travellers when they access services.
